Job summary

Responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging sessions, teaching bricklaying, blockwork and related trades, preparing learning materials, assessing progress, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Relevant Brickwork or Masonry qualification required.
• Significant practical experience in brickwork/construction.
• Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring, preferably in further education or apprenticeships.
• Willingness to work towards teaching qualification if not already holding one.
• Strong knowledge of construction health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging classroom and practical brickwork sessions.
• Teach brickwork techniques such as bricklaying, blockwork, cavity wall construction, pointing and setting out.
• Prepare lesson plans, learning materials, and assessments.
• Assess learner work against qualification and awarding-body requirements.
• Provide feedback and support to help learners achieve goals.
• Maintain attendance, assessment, progress, and achievement records.
• Promote health, safety, safeguarding, equality, diversity, and professional conduct.
• Ensure workshops and equipment are used and maintained safely.
• Keep up to date with brickwork techniques and industry practice.
• Collaborate with employers and stakeholders to support learner progression.
