Job summary

Sheffield City Council is recruiting a temporary Infant Feeding Peer Support worker to join the citywide Family Hub teams. You will work alongside Midwives, Health Visitors and Early Years teams to support breastfeeding journeys across the city.

The role focuses on encouraging and supporting breastfeeding decisions, engaging mums in groups and clinics, and promoting health campaigns. Training is mandatory, with flexible working options considered.

Qualifications

• Motivated individual with enthusiastic attitude to breastfeeding.
• Must have at least one positive breastfeeding experience.
• Attend mandatory training and job-specific training.
• Willing to engage mums in groups and health clinics.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and flexibility for unpaid caring responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Offer peer support to all pregnant women and mothers on feeding choices in line with UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative.
• Engage mums in groups and during health clinics.
• Promote health campaigns and activities.
• Work with midwives, health visitors and Early Years teams.
• Attend safeguarding checks and maintain professional standards.
