Job summary

London Borough of Newham is seeking a Specialist Baby Feeding Supporter to work 21.6 hours per week on a fixed-term basis until September 2027. You will support parents at Baby Feeding Cafes and via the Newham Baby Feeding Helpline, providing evidence-based information to enable informed decisions.

You will collaborate with health visitors and the infant feeding team, maintain IT records, promote the Family Hub offer, and help improve breastfeeding initiation and duration in diverse communities.

Qualifications

IBCL / Breastfeeding Counsellor or Peer Supporter working towards BFC/IBCLC.
In-depth knowledge of infant feeding and lactation.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; team oriented and able to work independently.
Ability to use IT and common software packages.

Responsibilities

Support parents with infant feeding questions in person and virtually.
Provide evidence-based information to enable informed decisions.
Liaise with Senior Specialist and Health Visitors on concerns outside remit.
Record activity and data to support information sharing.
Promote access and engagement with Newham Family Hub offer.
Demonstrate awareness of diverse client needs and UNICEF Baby Friendly standards.
