Job summary

The Dog & Fox in Wimbledon Village is seeking a Breakfast Chef to own our mornings, cooking fresh ingredients from prep to pass and crafting a flawless hollandaise.

If you have proven breakfast service experience, Level 2 Food Hygiene, and a calm, reliable manner, we want to hear from you. Early starts and a friendly team await.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a fresh-food kitchen is essential.
• Confident running a busy breakfast service on your own.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene or above required.
• Calm under pressure during peak service.
• Reliable, with a good sense of humour.

Responsibilities

• Run the breakfast and brunch service from prep to pass.
• Cook everything fresh: eggs, bacon, sourdough and hollandaise.
• Prepping, ordering and stock control to avoid mid-rush shortages.
• Keep your section clean and uphold high food safety standards.
• Work with the kitchen team to maintain consistency from first coffee to last orders.
• Bring ideas to the menu and share improvements.

Breakfast Chef – The Dog & Fox, Wimbledon Village

Up to £15 per hour

Are you a morning person? Or, more realistically, a person who’s very good at cooking in the morning?

The Dog & Fox is looking for a Breakfast Chef to own our mornings. We’re not after someone who can reheat a hash brown with confidence. We want a cook who knows their way around fresh ingredients, takes pride in a properly poached egg, and understands that hollandaise is a commitment, not a sachet.

What you’ll be doing

• Running the breakfast and brunch service from prep to pass
• Cooking everything fresh: proper eggs, good bacon, real sourdough, and a hollandaise that never splits (or, if it does, you know how to bring it back)
• Prepping, ordering and keeping stock tight so nothing runs out mid-rush
• Keeping your section spotless and your food safety standards higher than the Centre Court roof
• Working with the wider kitchen team to keep standards consistent from first coffee to last orders
• Bringing ideas to the menu. If you’ve got a better way to do avocado on toast, we’re listening

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in a fresh-food kitchen (this is essential, not a nice-to-have)
• Confidence running a busy breakfast service on your own
• Solid knowledge of food safety and allergen procedures (Level 2 Food Hygiene or above)
• Calm under pressure. Twenty covers walking in at 9:01 on a Sunday should excite you, not frighten you
• Reliability. Breakfast waits for no one, and neither do our regulars
• A sense of humour. You’ll need it, and so will we
