Job summary

The Harris Primary Academy Shortlands Breakfast and After School Club is seeking a dedicated Breakfast & After School Club Assistant to care for pupils, offer encouragement and supervise activities. You will work closely with the Leader to provide a relaxed, informed and caring environment for children.

The role involves assisting with meals, safeguarding, outings, and planning engaging activities, with DBS checks and safeguarding commitments required for all staff.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Early Years / Play-work / Teaching Assistant or equivalent.
• First Aid Certificate or willingness to acquire.
• Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to acquire.
• Experience working with children of relevant age.
• Experience with children who may have additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in breakfast preparation, snacks, cleaning and washing up.
• Take responsibility for a group of children as designated.
• Ensure children are safe at all times and flag risks.
• Attend occasional staff meetings and training sessions.
• Accompany children on outings and ensure whereabouts and safety.
• Inform Leader of any incident affecting a child’s well-being.
• Generate ideas for new or improved play activities.
