Job summary

The Works Stores Ltd is seeking a Retail Sales Assistant to join our store team in Preston. You will be the face of the brand on the shop floor, delivering friendly, knowledgeable service and helping customers discover products that suit their needs.

You will work as part of a supportive team, maintaining store standards, handling tills, and contributing to a welcoming shopping environment. This active role offers opportunities for growth through The Works' training and development programs.

Qualifications

• Proactively approach customers, start friendly conversations and make helpful recommendations.
• Deliver a friendly, knowledgeable customer experience to meet store targets.
• Be a supportive team player and contribute to a positive store environment.
• Be reliable and punctual and able to work a variety of shifts.
• Learn to use tills and handle transactions accurately.
• Maintain merchandising, cleanliness and stock availability.

Responsibilities

• Proactively approach customers and understand their needs to recommend products.
• Deliver a consistently excellent customer experience during store visits.
• Stay informed about products, promotions and services to assist decisions.
• Keep store standards high, manage stock and housekeeping.
• Operate tills accurately and cash handling with care.
• Assist with deliveries and stockroom organisation as needed.
• Follow health and safety and loss prevention procedures.
• Work with teammates to meet store KPIs and targets.
• Act as a positive brand ambassador and represent The Works with enthusiasm.
• Note: Keyholder duties may include opening/closing the store and cash handling if applicable.
