Job summary

Libertatem Healthcare Group in Canterbury is seeking an experienced Spinal Injury Support Worker to care for a male client in his late 50s. The role involves a 2:1 support ratio, catheter/ bowel management, and respiratory support with training provided.

You will build a trusting, compassionate relationship and work both independently and as part of a team. Shifts run 8am–8pm, 7 days per week, with zero-hour contract terms and options for full or part-time hours.

Qualifications

• Experience with high level spinal cord injury with complex needs.
• Catheter care and bowel management experience.
• Valid UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care, including washing, dressing, catheter and bowel management.
• Prepare meals and support nutrition.
• Administer medication and assist with cough assist and nebulisers (training provided).
• Provide emotional support and companionship.
• Support moving and handling.
• Light housekeeping duties.

Role Overview:

We are offering an opportunity for experienced and dedicated Spinal Injury Support Workers to join our new client in Canterbury, working on a 2:1 ratio. Our client is a male in his late 50’s with a Spinal Injury following a road traffic accident.

He has a catheter and requires daily support with bowel management, cough assist and nebulisers, plus monitoring for signs of autonomic dysreflexia. To support his independence, we’re seeking support workers who are confident, empathetic, and capable of building a strong, trusting relationship, with previous Spinal Injury experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting with personal care (washing, dressing, catheter and bowel management)
• Preparing meals and supporting with nutrition
• Administering medication and supporting with cough assist and nebulisers (training provided)
• Providing emotional support and companionship
• Supporting with moving and handling

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience within a similar role, supporting clients with high level spinal cord injury with complex needs.
• Experience with catheter care, bowel management and/or knowledge of Autonomic Dysreflexia.
• A caring and compassionate nature
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
