Job summary

Royal Devon is recruiting an experienced Bowel Cancer Screening Administrator (Internal Only) for our Exeter site. You will support the screening lead administration team by handling patient and nurse queries, validating pathways and arranging outpatient appointments.

The role requires strong communication and customer service skills, with a focus on timely, accurate processing and adherence to NHS policies. Internal applicants only, with a focus on inclusivity and staff development.

As part of the team, you will answer telephone calls, respond to queries from patients and nurses, validate patient pathways, and book outpatient appointments. This is a varied and rewarding role that plays an important part in supporting the delivery of a high-quality screening service.

The post holder will support the Bowel Cancer Screening Lead Administrations in co-ordinating a professional, efficient and effective administrative service to patients in accordance with Trust policies and standards.

As an administrator you will be required to communicate between our patients and our clinical staff - answering patient calls and queries, nurse queries, validating patient pathways, and booking outpatient appointments.

Ensure all administrative processes; and enquiries are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner, following agreed standard operating procedures, escalating to senior manager as appropriate.

Monitoring waiting times, ensuring that our patients’ treatment pathways, from referral to treatment are accurate and up to date.

Provide excellent customer care which may include communication with distressed and anxious patients and relatives, treating them with tact and empathy. Hospitals visits can be stressful and daunting – you will need to be good communicator with strong patient service skills.
