Are you an experienced bookkeeper with strong VAT knowledge and a background in supporting busy accountancy teams?

We’re working with a well-established and friendly accountancy practice based in Wilmslow that is looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team. This is a key hire for a busy firm that supports a wide range of small to medium-sized businesses, and they need someone who can step into the role with confidence from day one.

This role is ideal for someone with a solid bookkeeping background in a UK accountancy practice, particularly with extensive experience in VAT. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and submitting VAT returns and managing client bookkeeping with accuracy and efficiency.

Role Responsibilities

• Preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
• Managing client queries related to VAT and bookkeeping matters
• Ensuring records are maintained accurately and to deadlines
• Using cloud-based accounting software such as QuickBooks and Xero

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in a bookkeeping role within a UK accountancy practice (essential)
• Strong understanding of VAT and confidence in handling submissions independently
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
• A professional, client-focused attitude and good communication skills
• Experience with QuickBooks and Xero (preferred)
• Ability to manage your own workload with minimal supervision
