Job summary

Independent Lives in Rustington are seeking a Bank Female Personal Assistant to support a woman in a relaxed, bohemian household. The role involves personal care, driving, pet care, and day-to-day tasks in a private home.

The ideal candidate is warm, patient, reliable and comfortable around dogs, with a respectful approach to independence. Experience is preferred but not essential; role requires flexibility for bank hours and occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Home & personal care
• Laundry and changing beds
• Taking bins out and general practical support
• Assistance with bathing/showering, drying and hair care
• Help getting in and out of the bath/shower and bed
• Assistance with wheelchair transfers when required
• Supporting with physiotherapy exercises
• Assistance changing at the swimming pool/gym
• Collecting medication from the pharmacy
• Family & everyday life
• Supporting with parenting tasks as needed
• Helping with practical tasks I cannot safely manage
• Driving me in my car when required
• Lifting my folding wheelchair in/out of the car and pushing it
• Accompanying me to appointments, meetings, courses and social events
• Day trips to beach, garden centre and other leisure activities
• Driving me to/from friends’ homes and helping with luggage
• Walking my dog
• Being confident and comfortable around a puppy
• Being happy to support a dog in training as an assistance dog
• Medication prompting/administering
• Personal grooming
• Eating and drinking assistance
• Moving and handling
• Other relevant duties as required
• Administration

• Transportation

• Dressing / undressing
• Bathroom assistance
• Laundry – all aspects
• Changing bed linen and bed making
• Taking the bins out
• Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair
• Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing
• Help getting into and out of bath/shower
• On call when employer has a shower
• Help getting in and out of bed
• Collecting my medication from the pharmacy
• Changed at swimming pool/gym.
• Getting in and out of the wheelchair when required on occasion (transferring)
• Supporting me with physiotherapy exercises
• Support with parenting e.g. picking up teenage children to visit
• The role involves driving the employer in the employer’s car when required, lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car and pushing the employer’s wheelchair
• Accompanying on day trips and leisure activities
• Accompanying to appointments, meetings, courses and workshops
• When the employer stays away, helping with packing and transporting luggage
• Driving the employer to and from a friend’s residence
