Job summary

AutoSkills UK in Worcester is seeking an Experienced SMART Repair Technician to join a modern accident repair centre. You will perform high-quality cosmetic vehicle repairs, ensuring each vehicle is returned to customers in outstanding condition.

The role offers a competitive salary (£30,000 - £34,000 DOE) with an OTE of up to £40,000, long-term stability, and a supportive team environment while working with the latest repair technology.

Qualifications

  • Experienced SMART Repair Technician in a bodyshop or accident repair centre.
  • Strong knowledge of SMART repair techniques, paint prep, colour matching, and refinishing.
  • Experience carrying out bumper repairs, cosmetic paintwork, alloy wheels, and minor body repairs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality repairs.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced workshop.
  • Strong communication and a team-focused attitude.
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred; IMI/ATA accreditation advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out SMART repairs to bodywork, bumpers, wheels and minor damage.
  • Prepare damaged areas with sanding, filling, masking, and priming.
  • Mix and apply paint to achieve accurate colour matches.
  • Localised paint repairs, blending and finishing to factory standards.
  • Inspect repairs for quality before handover.
  • Collaborate with Paint, Panel, MET technicians and Controllers.
  • Maintain equipment and workshop in a clean, safe condition.
  • Follow manufacturer repair methods and safety procedures.

THE ROLE

As an Experienced SMART Repair Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out high-quality cosmetic vehicle repairs, ensuring every vehicle is repaired efficiently and returned to customers in outstanding condition. Working within a busy accident repair centre, you'll use your technical expertise to complete repairs to the highest manufacturer and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out SMART repairs to vehicle bodywork, bumpers, alloy wheels, and minor panel damage
  • Prepare damaged areas through sanding, filling, masking, and priming
  • Mix and apply paint using modern paint systems to achieve accurate colour matches
  • Carry out localised paint repairs, blending, polishing, and finishing to a factory-quality standard
  • Inspect completed repairs to ensure exceptional quality before vehicle handover
  • Work closely with Paint Technicians, Panel Technicians, MET Technicians, and Workshop Controllers to maximise workshop efficiency
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and organised condition
  • Follow manufacturer repair methods, quality standards, and Health & Safety procedures at all times
ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an experienced, motivated, and quality-driven SMART Repair Technician who takes pride in delivering first-class workmanship and outstanding customer satisfaction.

  • Previous experience as a SMART Repair Technician within an automotive bodyshop or accident repair centre
  • Strong knowledge of SMART repair techniques, paint preparation, colour matching, and refinishing
  • Experience carrying out bumper repairs, cosmetic paintwork, alloy wheel refurbishment, and minor body repairs
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality repairs
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently within a fast-paced workshop environment
  • Strong communication skills and a positive team-focused attitude
  • IMI and/or ATA accreditation is advantageous but not essential
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred
