Job summary

Old Swinford Hospital is seeking a Non-Residential Boarding Tutor to assist the Housemaster in maintaining the good order and welfare of boarders. You will support in-house activities, supervise duties, and act as a pastoral tutor for students.

The role includes weekend duties, emergency cover when required, and collaboration with staff and parents to ensure a safe, supportive boarding environment. This fixed-term post runs until 16 July 2026 with a pro rata salary and Nest pension provision.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential or educational/youth-work settings.
• Passion for welfare and development of children and young people.
• Ability to work as part of a team and keep confidentiality.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Housemaster in maintaining good order and discipline in the boarding house.
• Support in-house activities and house competitions; act as pastoral tutor for students.
• Undertake weekday duties and contribute to weekend duty rota as required.
• Supervise study/prep sessions and provide academic guidance.
• Assist with safeguarding and welfare of boarders and attend meetings with parents.
