£50,000 to £60,000 + £6,825 Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits
You\'ll take responsibility for the commissioning activities allocated to you and help turn the approved BMS design into a working, tested system ready for handover. That includes point-to-point, point-to-software and point-to-graphics commissioning, but the scope goes further. You could be modifying control strategies, software and graphics, commissioning third-party integrations across BACnet, Modbus and M-Bus, resolving engineering queries and maintaining the technical documentation behind the commissioned system. As projects move towards completion, you\'ll keep witnessing packs and commissioning information up to date, demonstrate the system to the client and support a diligent handover. You may also carry out site surveys, produce recommendations, support junior engineers and assist with subcontractor management where required.
The difference here is breadth. If your current position keeps commissioning, software, documentation and handover relatively separate, this role offers the opportunity to work across more of that process. You won\'t just prove that the field devices work. You can get involved with the underlying control strategy, software and graphics, open-protocol integrations, technical documentation and the eventual demonstration of the finished system. There is breadth on the controls side too, with the team looking for experience across Trend, Tridium, Schneider or ALC, together with knowledge of other Niagara-based systems.
For an experienced BMS Commissioning Engineer, that creates an opportunity to build on your existing platform knowledge while broadening the project experience around it.
You\'ll also need knowledge of Niagara-based systems, a solid understanding of HVAC and the ability to interpret and modify existing BMS control strategies. Electrical competence is required, as is the ability to work independently on site, organise your workload and communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors and clients.
You\'ll be working across project sites around London and will need to manage changing site requirements, programme pressures and coordination with other trades. You\'re also accountable for more than getting the system running. Documentation needs to reflect what has actually been commissioned, technical issues need to be raised and followed through, backups need to be maintained and witnessing information needs to be ready for sign-off. You\'ll be expected to work safely within RAMS and site procedures and complete dynamic risk assessments where required.
This role provides opportunities to extend your experience beyond the core commissioning activities you may already be comfortable with. That could mean deeper involvement in BMS software and graphics, open-protocol integrations, technical documentation, surveys and recommendations, or the client-facing stages of demonstration and handover. You may also have opportunities to support and supervise junior engineers, building experience in technical guidance alongside your own project delivery. Relevant training courses are available as required, with commercial-awareness training also provided where needed.
