The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Swindon invites applications for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover. You will provide specialist technical expertise in Bacteriology and Virology and support clinical staff.

You will supervise MLAs and APs, manage equipment, participate in validation projects, and stay updated with scientific advances. Standard hours are 08:45-17:15, with weekend/Bank Holiday rotas and on-call responsibilities.

• Perform specialized tasks in the Bacteriology and Virology sections.
• Authorise specific result types.
• Oversee and supervise Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLAs) and Assistant Practitioners (APs).
• Manage the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
