Eastbourne District General Hospital is seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist on an 11-month fixed-term basis to identify disease-causing microorganisms and advise antibiotic treatment from diverse samples. Qualifikationen

• BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
• Specialist portfolio in microbiology.
• Evidence of CPD to postgraduate level or equivalent knowledge/experience.
• Ongoing training such as mycology, parasitology, advanced instrument and BSAC courses.

Aufgaben

• Analyse and interpret infections by identifying disease-causing micro-organisms.
• Recommend antibiotic treatment where appropriate.
• Examine samples including blood, tissue, urine, CSF and faeces.
• Culture and identify bacteria and fungi.
• Carry out antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Identify lice, fleas and parasites.
• Perform serological tests, including HIV, HBV and other viruses.
• Apply microbiological, biochemical, serological and molecular techniques.
• Undertake all aspects of routine laboratory work.
• Work at Specialist Biomedical Scientist level.
• Take part in the contractual 7-day rotas.
