Job summary

National health service is inviting applications for the Blood Transfusion Lead across Queens Hospital, Romford and King George Hospital, Goodmayes. The role provides management for the Blood Transfusion Department, leading a team and ensuring high-quality, efficient service in line with national standards.

You will oversee regulatory compliance, supervise staff, and work with the Head of Department to transform service delivery within a Pathology network.

Qualifications

• State registered with HCPC and Masters degree or equivalent.
• CPD evidence and ongoing professional development required.
• Current IBMS membership and broad post-HCPC transfusion experience.
• Previous supervisory experience in Haematology/Blood Transfusion.
• Knowledge of Blood Transfusion regulations and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Blood Transfusion Department and coordinate the service across two hospitals.
• Lead a team of Biomedical Scientists and support staff to ensure high quality care.
• Ensure compliance with policy, safety, and regulatory standards (EU Blood Safety, ISO 15189, SHOT).
• Collaborate with Head of Department to drive improvements in efficiency and quality.
