The Church of England’s Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham invites a Chaplain to support the Bishop’s Office with liturgical, pastoral and ministry duties across the diocese. Qualifications

• Ordained priest in the Church of England with several years' experience in a post-ordination role.
• Experience working with Archdeacons, Area Deans and Parish oversight and governance.
• Knowledge of Church of England processes and Clergy management and episcopal administration.
• Excellent safeguarding knowledge and leadership to support the Bishop.
• Theologically alert and able to prepare responses reflecting situations.
• Aligned with the Bishop’s priorities and able to support ministry effectively.
• Prayerful and calm under pressure; able to work flexibly across evenings and weekends.
• Enjoys collective working and provides leadership and support as required.
• Emotionally intelligent and able to work with diverse people.
• Committed to growing ministry under the Bishop’s guidance with teaching and pastoral interests.
• Willing to work flexible hours and participate in events and meetings.
• Creative liturgy skills for diverse worship.
• Commitment to growing disciples, evangelism, and church growth.
• Ability to nurture rhythms of prayer and worship.
• Digitally literate with Microsoft suite and databases.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to represent the Bishop and provide pastoral support.
• Ability to manage deadlines and varied workload.

Responsibilities

• Oversee liturgical planning for key diocesan services, including confirmations and institutions.
• Advise Cathedral, incumbents and churchwardens on service planning and ensure Orders of Service are signed off.
• Develop strategy for nurturing prayer partnerships across diocese and parishes.
• Support worship and prayer life at Bishop’s Council, Diocesan Synod and other events.
• Assist the bishop’s teaching ministry; attend leadership training days and contribute to programmes.
• Lead and preach at services and teaching events when invited by parishes.
• Advise on bespoke prayers and liturgies faithful to Anglican tradition for civic and ecclesiastical occasions.
• Fulfil the role of Diocesan Ecumenical Officer (DEO) with ecumenical partners.
