Job summary

The Church of England in York Diocese is seeking an Executive Assistant to the Lead Bishop. You will provide proactive, strategic, and highly professional executive support to maximise the Bishop’s time and resources, coordinating diaries, correspondence, travel and meetings with discretion and care.

You will work closely with the Chaplain and Archdeacon’s Office, maintain confidential records, and help deliver diocesan priorities while presenting a welcoming, pastoral service across the Diocese

Qualifications

  • Experience providing executive or senior administrative support to a senior leader.
  • Experience managing complex diaries and competing priorities.
  • Experience organising meetings, events and visits involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Experience drafting correspondence, briefings, reports and other professional documentation.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft 365 applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑level executive support to the Lead Bishop.
  • Manage a complex flow of correspondence and diary, aligning with priorities.
  • Coordinate appointments, meetings, visits, engagements and public events.
  • Organise travel, accommodation and logistics.
  • Ensure the Bishop is fully briefed and prepared for meetings and engagements.
  • Maintain oversight of actions and ensure timely follow‑up.
  • Gatekeep access to the Bishop's Office while protecting priorities.
  • Lead on Office responsibilities within clergy appointment processes in York Archdeaconry.
