Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd in Warrington is seeking an Ornithologist to join our ecology team, delivering bird surveys, assessments and consultancy across projects. You will work with ecologists, planners and environmental specialists from fieldwork through to reporting and client liaison.

At consultant level, a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or Zoology is preferred, with bird survey experience and knowledge of UK species and legislation.

Qualifications

• For consultant level, degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology or related discipline.
• Relevant ornithological survey experience within a consultancy or similar environment.
• Membership of CIEEM or willingness to work towards this.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake a range of ornithological surveys including breeding bird, wintering bird, Vantage Point, Wetland Bird Survey and species-specific surveys.
• Design survey methodologies and coordinate survey programmes.
• Produce high-quality technical reports including EcIA, HRA inputs and ornithological assessments.
• Advise clients on ornithological constraints, mitigation and enhancement measures.
• Support planning applications and environmental assessments.
• Mentor junior ecologists and surveyors (Senior level).
