Job summary

Lonza in Slough is seeking a Biotechnologist to contribute to the Inoculum project, crafting and maintaining inoculum cell culture of mammalian cell lines within a cGMP clean room environment to support clinical product manufacture. This is a fully site-based role with a 37.5 hour week, offering Friday to Tuesday patterns and weekend coverage to support work–life balance.

Qualifications

• BSc in Life Sciences, Biotechnology or related field or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience with inoculum and/or cell culture is desirable, including cell growth and aseptic processing.
• Familiarity with GMP principles and maintaining accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cell cultures to GMP standards using aseptic techniques and batch records.
• Perform cell counting, environmental monitoring and aseptic activities with high quality.
• Conduct routine lab maintenance, equipment checks, stores management and cleaning.
• Prepare stock solutions and media, followed by aseptic filtration to support research and production.
• Keep up-to-date with cGMP and safety trainings to ensure compliance and safety.

Join our team at Lonza AG's global Manufacturing Plant in Slough. We have an outstanding opportunity for a skilled Biotechnologist to contribute to our Inoculum project. Your role will involve crafting and maintaining inoculum cell culture of mammalian cell lines within a cGMP clean room environment. This is crucial for the production of clinical products at Lonza Biologics Slough.Join our world-class team at Lonza, where flexibility meets opportunity! We offer two schedule options to support your work-life balance:Full-Time (37.5 hours/week): Working pattern is Friday to Tuesday and includes working every weekend. This is a fully site-based role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities:

Maintenance of cell cultures to GMP standards using aseptic techniques with flawless completion of batch records and log books.Performing cell counting, environmental monitoring, and aseptic activities to ensure the highest quality standards.Conducting routine laboratory maintenance, including equipment checks, stores management, and cleaning to maintain a pristine working environment.Preparing stock solutions and mediums, followed by aseptic filtration to support ongoing research and production activities.Keeping up-to-date with cGMP and safety trainings to ensure compliance and safety in all operations.

Key requirements:

A BSc in Life Sciences, Biotechnology or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.Experience in inoculum and/or cell culture is highly desirable, with an understanding of cell growth, culture maintenance and aseptic
processing.Experience within a Manufacturing, Production or biotechnology environment would be advantageous.A good working knowledge of GMP principles, with an understanding of the importance of following procedures and maintaining accurate documentation.Practical laboratory or manufacturing experience, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, safety and compliance.
