The role emphasizes rigorous experimentation, rapid prototyping, and contributing to both foundational research and real-world applications across life sciences and AI domains.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent practical experience in virology, microbiology, infectious diseases, or related biology.
• Experience with emerging biosecurity topics (metagenomic surveillance, de novo pathogen design, LLM-based uplift).
• Experience implementing core ML/AI concepts.
• Experience in genomics and computing solutions.
• Experience publishing research on biosecurity topics.

Responsabilités

• Contribute to pioneering AI and biosecurity research, supporting publications and product development for the Biosecurity initiative.
• Synthesize complex results into clear reports and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Influence the research roadmap and identify key technical gaps for projects.
• Design and evaluate mitigation strategies addressing biosecurity risks of specialized models.
• Engage with the broader biosecurity community through internal and external events.
