Job summary

Lonza is seeking a Controls and Instrumentation Engineer in the United Kingdom. The role focuses on modeling, implementing, and maintaining control systems for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, ensuring safe, compliant processes.

You will configure PLCs, DCS, and SCADA, develop documentation, calibrate instrumentation, and support commissioning and validation activities, collaborating with manufacturing, quality, IT, and external suppliers.

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Significant experience in controls and instrumentation in regulated manufacturing.
Strong PLC programming experience (Rockwell or Siemens).
Experience with DCS (Emerson DeltaV) and HMI/SCADA platforms.
Knowledge of process instrumentation, calibration, and industrial protocols.
Experience in GxP/cGMP with CSV understanding.
Ability to read P&IDs and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, and maintain control and instrumentation systems.
Configure, troubleshoot, and optimise PLCs, DCS, and SCADA platforms.
Develop and maintain engineering documentation including control narratives and wiring diagrams.
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot process instrumentation.
Lead commissioning, qualification, and validation activities.
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, IT and suppliers.
Drive continuous improvement and train operational teams.
