We have an exciting opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join our Histopathology Team within our Pathology Department based at The London Clinic in Central London, W1G 7LJ, with a competitive salary range on offer. This is a part-time Fixed Term Contract for 12 months, working 2 days per week.

Job Profile

As a Biomedical Scientist, you will carry out technical and scientific work in the laboratory under the direction of the Chief/Senior Biomedical Scientist or Consultant, mainly in the Histopathology departments. You will ensure that scientific standards are adhered to at all times.

  • Job Type: This is a part-time fixed-term position, working 2 days per week.

Key Duties
  • Assist senior biomedical scientists with routine tasks such as embedding, microtomy, special staining, immunohistochemistry, specimen handling, biopsy/small tissue transfers, frozen sectioning, internal quality control, and Cytology processes (Gynae and Non-Gynae).
  • Follow policies and procedures at all times.
  • Process internal and external quality assurance.
  • Evaluate new equipment and verify methods.
  • Maintain stock control.
  • Operate and maintain analytical equipment after training and competency assessment.
  • Participate in rotational shifts across routine and specialized laboratory work, including Mohs technique if fully trained.
Skills & Experience
  • HCPC post-registration histology laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of UKAS requirements.
  • Strong skills in routine histology tasks: embedding, microtomy, special staining, immunohistochemistry, specimen handling, frozen sectioning, and quality control.
  • Experience with LIMS systems and patient data entry.
