Sage is seeking a Managing Editor for its Biomedical Open Access journals in the United Kingdom. The role focuses on journal performance, content growth, editorial quality, and financial outcomes. You will develop commissioning strategies and manage peer review, ensuring a high-quality author experience.

Collaborating with authors, editors, and Sage teams, you will recruit editorial boards and expand subject knowledge across fields. Hybrid work and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience managing editorial and peer review workflows for academic journals.
• Strong understanding of journal publishing systems, publishing ethics, trends, and industry standards.
• Commercial awareness and interest in journal performance and development.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Excellent prioritisation skills and adaptability with multiple priorities and partners.

Responsabilités

• Own the development of biomedical open access journals, with responsibility for journal performance and financial outcomes.
• Develop and deliver commissioning strategies, including Special Collections, to support growth and development.
• Manage peer review activities, including manuscript assessment and editorial decision-making.
• Work with authors, editors, and internal Sage teams to ensure efficient publication and high-quality author experience.
• Recruit and maintain editorial boards and key community partnerships.
• Build subject knowledge across journal fields and participate in conferences.

Formation

PhD, MD, or equivalent in a biomedical or clinical subject area
