The Medical Engineering Technician role sits within the biomedical engineering service of an NHS hospital trust, covering inspection, calibration, fault repair and commissioning of medical devices across multiple sites. You will maintain records, support clinical staff and contribute to service improvements, with emphasis on device safety and compliance.

Applicants should have a Level 5 qualification (BTEC/ONC or equivalent) in electronic engineering or physical sciences, be adept with test

Competenze

• Front-line customer service and staff guidance on equipment use.
• Use of test and measuring equipment for electronic and mechanical engineering, including assembly, fault diagnosis and calibration.
• Knowledge of patient and staff safety risks related to medical equipment.
• Knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements, including ISO 9001:2011.
• Knowledge of Philips Intrepid, B Braun Infusomat and Perfusor, Bodyguard PPMs, and equipment commissioning.

Mansioni

• Service, maintain, calibrate and carry out preventive inspections of biomedical and electrical equipment.
• Repair equipment and troubleshoot technical faults.
• Advise on equipment selection and evaluation.
• Support clinical staff in using medical devices safely and effectively, providing technical guidance and training.
• Keep accurate maintenance histories, equipment databases and compliance records for audit and regulatory traceability.
• Investigate equipment incidents, liaise with manufacturers and managers, and report outcomes to MHRA and NRLS.
