Job summary

Arla is seeking a Biomass Operations & Maintenance Technician at Felinfach to join a skilled team responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining critical biomass equipment that powers our manufacturing site.

You will perform routine inspections, fault finding, and maintenance while supporting energy efficiency and sustainability goals in a hands-on processing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating plant equipment in manufacturing, utilities, or energy environments.
• Electrical maintenance background is desirable.
• HNC or equivalent technical background advantageous.
• Welsh site experience encouraged is not specified.

As a Biomass Operations & Maintenance Technician, you'll join a skilled and supportive team responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining critical plant equipment that helps power our manufacturing site. This is an opportunity to develop your expertise in a role where your contribution has a direct impact on operational performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability goals. Rotating 12 hour shifts (days only).

How you will make an impact

• Operate and monitor the biomass plant, ensuring safe, efficient performance while supporting the energy needs of the manufacturing operation.
• Carry out routine inspections, fault finding, first-line maintenance, and condition monitoring to maximise reliability and performance.
• Support breakdown response, commissioning activities, and plant improvement projects that drive operational excellence and sustainability.
• Work closely with operational teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure safe working practices, effective maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Champion a strong health and safety culture while supporting compliance, reporting, housekeeping standards, and environmental performance targets.

Are you an experienced maintenance professional who thrives on solving technical challenges and keeping complex plant equipment operating safely and efficiently?, We're looking for a motivated Operations and Maintenance Technician with a proactive approach to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. You will enjoy working in a hands-on processing environment and be comfortable balancing operational responsibilities with practical maintenance activities. To succeed in this role, you'll bring the confidence to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team.

You will ideally have experience operating plant equipment within a manufacturing, utilities, power generation, combustion, energy, process or similar operational environment. An electrical maintenance background is highly desirable, together with strong fault-finding and plant operation experience, an HNC qualification or equivalent technical background would be advantageous. We also welcome applications from recently qualified apprentices looking to develop their careers in a highly technical environment.

You'll join our specialist operations team focused on renewable energy and sustainability, operating and maintaining a vital biomass facility that supports manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Biomass Operations Manager, you'll have the opportunity to develop your technical expertise across plant operations, maintenance, commissioning, process optimisation, and project activities.
