Job summary

Arla Foods operates a flagship Aylesbury dairy producing Cravendale, Skyr and Anchor. The Multi-Skilled Engineer role covers electrical and mechanical maintenance on dairy processing and packaging lines, with a 42‑hour rotating shift pattern (days and nights) and a focus on reliability and continuous improvement.

You will work within a high‑performing engineering team, applying lean methods to reduce downtime and enhance OEE, product quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
• ONC or equivalent engineering qualification required.
• Strong problem-solving and proactive collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance across dairy processing and packaging equipment.
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance to maximise asset reliability and performance.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives using TPM, RCM, FMEA, 5S, Kaizen and other lean methods.
• Identify opportunities to improve OEE, product quality, efficiency and health & safety.
• Collaborate with production and engineering colleagues to resolve equipment issues and minimise downtime.

Join Arla’s flagship Aylesbury dairy and become part of the team behind Cravendale, Skyr and Anchor. Our Aylesbury site, built in 2010 and spanning 76 acres, plays a critical role in producing high-quality dairy products for millions of consumers across the UK. Working on a Panama shift pattern with rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, you’ll be at the heart of maintaining and improving the technology and equipment that helps us feed the nation.

How you will make an impact

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement of our dairy processing and packaging operations. Working within a high-performing engineering team, you will use your electrical and mechanical expertise to maintain equipment, minimise downtime and support the delivery of safe, high-quality products to our customers. This role sits within the Engineering function at our Aylesbury site and operates on a 42-hour rotating shift pattern covering days and nights.

• Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance across dairy processing and packaging equipment.
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance activities to maximise asset reliability and performance.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives using TPM, RCM, FMEA, 5S, Kaizen and other lean manufacturing methodologies.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve OEE, product quality, efficiency and health & safety performance.
• Collaborate with production and engineering colleagues to resolve equipment issues and minimise operational downtime.

What will make you successful

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong background in a manufacturing environment and a passion for maintaining and improving complex production systems. Experience within FMCG manufacturing would be advantageous, as would an ONC or equivalent engineering qualification.

To succeed in this role, you will be confident working across multiple disciplines, capable of diagnosing and resolving technical issues efficiently, and comfortable collaborating with stakeholders across all levels of the business. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving will be essential.
