Job summary

Astute's Renewables team is recruiting a Biogas Plant Operative for a site in Middlesbrough. You will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the anaerobic digestion plant, working a 4 on 4 off pattern, and learning SCADA control systems to monitor the process.

The role offers a starting salary of £28,000 plus shift allowance, with private healthcare, death in service and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• A relevant Engineer degree is desired but not essential.
• Telehandler licence is an advantage.
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
• Experience in Anaerobic Digestion or similar environment such as Agriculture or energy from waste.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day operations of the anaerobic digestion plant.
• Work on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.
• Learn to use SCADA/DCS to monitor the process.
• Carry out basic maintenance and assist engineering team.
• Feed fuel into the process using mobile plant such as a telehandler.
• Respond to machine and system failures when trained.
• General site housekeeping and health & safety.

Job description

Astute's Renewables team are working exclusively with an established Anaerobic Digestion business, who are looking to recruit a Plant/Site Operative for their site in Middlesborough, working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

The Operator will play a vital role in ensuring the day to day running of the renewable energy plant and comes with a competitive salary, discretionary bonus and excellent training and benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Biogas Plant Operative role

Reporting to the Plant Manager you will:

• Carrying out the day to day operations of the anaerobic digestion plant
• Working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern
• Learning how to use the SCADA control systems to monitor the process
• Carrying out basic maintenance and assist the engineering team when required, which will include working on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, pipework etc once trained
• Feeding fuel into the process using mobile plant such as a telehandler
• Responding to machine and systems failures once trained
• General site housekeeping, keeping it clean and tidy
• Ensuring adherence with health & safety
• Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• A relevant Engineer degree is desired but not essential
• Telehandler licence is an advantage
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential

Personal skills

• Experience working in Anaerobic Digestion or a similar environment such as Agriculture, water treatment, energy from waste ect
• Experience operating mobile plant such as a telehandler or loading shovel
• Experience carrying out first line maintenance on processing plant such as pumps & conveyers would be an advantage
• Knowledge of SCADA or DCS would be an advantage
• Hard working and happy to work in an environment that processes food waste for renewable energy.
