Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking a Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Specialist to join our Nature Services team in the UK. You will help clients deliver measurable biodiversity gains, embed biodiversity into project design and contribute to nature recovery across the UK.

The role offers hybrid working arrangements across a diverse portfolio including infrastructure, energy, transport and property projects. You’ll work with ecologists, planners, landscape architects and GIS specialists to embed BNG from the

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related field.
• Experience delivering or supporting Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
• Strong knowledge of the statutory biodiversity metric and guidance.
• Understanding of UK ecology, habitat assessment and environmental legislation.
• Ability to analyse ecological data and apply professional judgement.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Biodiversity Net Gain assessments using the statutory biodiversity metric and guidance.
• Collect, interpret and analyse habitat and ecological data.
• Develop practical BNG strategies aligned with planning and consent requirements.
• Apply the mitigation hierarchy to achieve best outcomes for projects and biodiversity.
• Support habitat creation, enhancement, restoration and long-term management.
• Prepare and review Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs).
• Contribute biodiversity expertise to EIA, EcIA and other assessments.
• Produce clear, evidence-based technical reports and calculations.
• Provide trusted technical advice to clients and teams.
• Communicate biodiversity risks and opportunities to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support project delivery to scope, programme, budget and quality standards.
• Collaborate with planners, engineers, landscape architects, GIS specialists and ecologists.
