Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a BioChem Lecturer in Nuneaton to deliver OCR A Level Biology to Year 1 and Year 2 students. The role is a full-time maternity cover for the academic year, with potential involvement in BTEC Applied Science courses.

You will work within a well-resourced science faculty, alongside specialists and technicians. The successful candidate will hold a relevant teaching qualification, have strong biology knowledge, and be creative, reflective, and collaborative in their approach

Responsibilities

• Teach OCR A Level Biology across Year 1 and Year 2.
• Contribute to BTEC Level 3/2 Applied Science or Level 3 Diploma in Medical Science when possible.
• Collaborate with Biology specialists, science team and technicians.
• Deliver engaging lessons and support student outcomes.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a high-performing Specialist Sixth Form College in Nuneaton, which has approximately 1,500 students and a supportive, reflective and ambitious culture. The Science Faculty is well resourced, with six modern laboratories, including two specialist Biology laboratories, dedicated preparation facilities and access to classroom computers.

The college is looking to appoint a BioChem Lecturer on a full-time 1FTE maternity cover contract for the #removed# academic year. The successful BioChem Lecturer will teach OCR A Level Biology across Year 1 and Year 2 and, where possible, contribute to BTEC Level 3 Applied Science, BTEC Level 2 Applied Science or the Level 3 Diploma in Medical Science, working alongside Biology specialists, the wider Science team and specialist technicians.

The successful BioChem Lecturer will have:

• A relevant teaching qualification, with newly-qualified teachers welcome to apply
• Strong subject knowledge in Biology
• Experience or confidence teaching A Level Biology
• The ability to contribute to additional Science courses would be highly desirable
• A creative, reflective and adaptive approach to teaching
• A commitment to working collaboratively within a successful Science Faculty
