Job summary

Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Biobank Assistant to support the daily operations of the biobank. You will select, prepare and scan slides for digital pathology projects, and log clinical data and research samples in databases and spreadsheets.

You will pseudonymise patient samples and coordinate couriered shipments with collaborators. The role involves collecting samples from operating theatres for research, attending team meetings, and performing administrative tasks

Qualifications

• Selecting, preparing and scanning slides for digital pathology projects.
• Collecting and organising clinical data and tracking research samples in databases/spreadsheets.
• Preparing samples to be sent by courier or received from collaborators.
• Pseudonymising and storing patient samples securely.

Responsibilities

• Attending Biobank team meetings.
• Administrative duties: scanning patient consent forms, pulling and archiving wax blocks and slides.
• Working between Stanmore and Bolsover St sites as required to contact patients.
