Amey is hiring a BIM Coordinator for our Digital and Systems Engineering practice. The role focuses on leading BIM deliverables for major infrastructure projects, guiding junior staff and ensuring quality, cost, and schedule alignment.

Qualifications

• Experience applying BIM processes to real projects.
• Strong working knowledge of BIM software tools including ProjectWise, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit.
• Experience with BIM standards and codes such as BS 1192 and ISO 19650.
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of supplier services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid understanding of CDM and risk assessment in BIM projects.
• Ability to manage interfaces and spatial coordination across teams.
• Supervisory and people management experience within a BIM team.
• Developed expertise within the BIM discipline and client-facing standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead BIM deliverables for engineering commissions meeting quality, cost and programme targets.
• Oversee junior staff and take responsibility for their actions and development.
• Control project budgets and production costs for BIM deliverables.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives and participate in progress meetings.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent BIM Coordinator to join our Digital and Systems Engineering practice, within our Consulting Engineering division. Office locations across the country, we’re interested in candidates based in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Derby, York, Bristol, Swindon and Cardiff, but with flexible working options we can consider applicants from across the UK.

The Opportunity

As an appointed Design Partner on some of the UK and Ireland’s most significant and complex infrastructure projects, we are proud to support clients including National Highways, Network Rail, Transport Scotland, Transport for Wales, Transport for London, Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail), Local Authorities and major Contractors. We have secured multiple long‑term contracts and continue to grow and expand into new regions and markets.

What You Will Be Doing

As a BIM Coordinator you will act as a team leader, producing and overseeing the production of BIM deliverables for engineering commissions that satisfy the overarching criteria of quality, cost and programme.

Responsibilities Include

• Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions


• Responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within your portfolio, controlling budgets and managing the costs associated with the production of deliverables


• Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.


• Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function


• Assuming the role of people manager when required by the business

We Want To Hear From You If You Have

• Applied BIM process and principles to clearly understood situations, where concepts are matched to problems


• Very good working knowledge of relevant software (e.g. ProjectWise, AutoCAD, Microstation, Revit etc.)and similar design/analytical tools


• Experience in the application of BIM standards and codes of practice, e.g. BS 1192 and ISO 19650 framework


• A good commercial awareness


• Very good knowledge of suppliers and types of services they provide


• Very good oral communication skills and are able to present arguments and ideas well.


• A very good understanding of CDM and risk assessment


• A good understanding of interface management and spatial coordination.


• Supervisory and people manager skills and the capability to manage a small to medium sized, locally based BIM team


• Developed experience and expertise within the BIM discipline


• Good knowledge of client and international BIM standards, BIM documents, CDEs and emerging technologies


• Developed experience of working within a common data environment in accordance with BIM processes


• A level 4 qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject (preferred, but not essential for individuals who can demonstrate the appropriate level of experience)


• EngTech (or higher) status is also desirable, demonstrating your commitment to professional standards in engineering
