Job summary

BT Group in Belfast is seeking a Software Engineering Specialist to lead the rollout of cloud-native billing technologies and guide modernisation across complex enterprise systems. You will design, build and operate microservices with Java/Spring Boot, AWS/EKS, and Oracle DB, while mentoring teams and driving high-quality delivery.

The role emphasizes architectural leadership, reliability, and scalable solutions in a fast-paced telecoms environment, with strong focus on operational excellence

Qualifications

• Strong experience building backend services using Java/Spring Boot and microservices.
• Experience deploying and operating cloud-native apps in AWS/EKS with CI/CD practices.
• Proven technical leadership and end-to-end delivery experience across enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead rollout of new technology across consumer billing platforms with minimal service disruption.
• Drive end-to-end engineering delivery from design to production support.
• Establish engineering standards, release readiness and delivery controls for resilient changes.
• Design cloud-native billing solutions using microservices, API-first approaches and scalable integration.
• Mentor engineers, review designs, and promote operational excellence.
