BI SQL Developer

Location: Newcastle (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days remote)

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 DOE

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

What You’ll Do

As a BI SQL Developer at Lookers Motor Group, you will join our Finance BI Data Team to play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of our financial reporting solutions. This position requires expertise in SQL development, ETL processes, and data warehousing to meet the dynamic reporting and analytical needs of our Finance BI Team.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Design and optimise high-performance SQL solutions to power financial reporting, transaction analysis, and business intelligence.
  • Take a leading role in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues from debugging complex stored procedures to fine-tuning ETL workflows - with proactive monitoring to keep our financial data accurate.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with end users and stakeholders, including finance teams, to ensure their requirements are fully understood and met.
  • Step into the OLAP Administrator role – a process you’ll own end-to-end after enhanced training.
  • Follow industry-standard testing and change management procedures to safeguard data integrity.
  • Share knowledge freely and help foster an environment where everyone can learn and innovate together.

What You’ll Bring

Must-haves:

  • Proficiency in SQL development (SSMS), advanced data modelling, and ETL workflows.
  • Strong skills in Excel and data manipulation.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift.
  • Combine strong teamwork skills with the initiative to work independently - balancing collaboration with personal accountability.
  • Committed to ongoing skills development, with the flexibility to evolve alongside emerging BI technologies and analytical approaches.
  • Effective organisation and time management skills, capable of meeting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Previous experience within the automotive industry.
  • Experience with OLAP data cubes and administration.
  • Background in finance or related financial domains; understanding financial data and processes
  • Experience with App Studio
