Job summary

Enfield Council is seeking a Best Start Inclusion Practitioner to join the Early Help and Children’s Services team. You will support children and families through Family Hubs, early years settings and partner agencies to promote inclusive practice and ensure children with additional needs get the support they need.

This role requires delivering parenting intervention programmes, offering advice and practical support, and identifying needs early to remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes

Qualifications

  • Experience of supporting children with additional or special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Knowledge of current early years frameworks, legislation, and best practice.
  • Strong partnership working skills with multi-agency professionals.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and manage a varied caseload.
  • Commitment to equality, inclusion and improving outcomes for children and families.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Best Start Inclusion Practitioner (BSIP) to join our Early Help and Children's Services team. In this rewarding role, you will work with children and families through Family Hubs, early years settings, and partner agencies to promote inclusive practice. This work will ensure that young children with additional needs receive the support they need to achieve the best possible start in life and will include delivering group and individual parenting intervention programmes. You will provide advice, guidance, signposting and practical support to families with children in the early years, helping to identify needs early, remove barriers to learning and development, and improve outcomes for children and families.

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with young children and families, particularly within early years, education, health, or community settings. You will have a sound understanding of child development, inclusion, safeguarding, and the challenges faced by children with emerging or identified additional needs. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of supporting children with additional or special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Knowledge of current early years frameworks, legislation, and best practice.
  • Strong partnership working skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with associated teams, families, early years providers, and multi-agency professionals.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and record-keeping skills.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise workload effectively, and manage a varied caseload.
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion, and improving outcomes for children and families.
