Battery Energy Storage Expert (BESS) - Technical Advisor

Location: United Kingdom (remote role)

Circular Resourcing is working with a global engineering consultancy to identify an expert in Battery Energy Storage to provide Technical Advisor services to developers, owners, operators, lenders, and investors of standalone or co-located battery energy storage projects.

The role requires demonstrating project management skills related to Technical Advisor services, understanding main suppliers, and ideally experience in business development and internal tools development.

The main responsibilities include:

1. Monitoring and inspecting during construction stages.
2. Drafting technical specifications and supporting contract development.
3. Monitoring market technology developments and new battery products.

Experience required:

Technical expertise in the following BESS sub-systems:

• Battery module and rack systems
• Battery unit controllers
• Power conversion systems
• BESS cooling systems
• Fire detection and suppression systems

Additional skills and experience:

• Excellent technical report writing skills.
• Experience leading or participating in technical due diligence and procurement processes.
• Knowledge of IEC standards, NFPA 855, and UL9540A.
• Ability to witness site acceptance testing and conduct site-based monitoring.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, engaging with clients and attending meetings.

Experience:

• At least 2 years in stand-alone or co-located utility-scale projects (>10 MW).
• At least 4 years acting as an independent technical advisor in any sector.
