Job summary

Neuratek Search is partnering with energy developers and EPC contractors in Manchester and the North West to connect with Electrical Project Engineers who have delivered battery energy storage, renewable energy or high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects.

Opportunities may involve design development through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, with roles centering around Manchester and wider North West. Some positions may require regular site travel.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering and relevant experience in electrical projects.
• Experience delivering battery energy storage, renewable energy, or HV electrical infrastructure.
• Ability to review technical drawings and documentation.
• Experience coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of MV/HV electrical systems and grid compliance.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical designs, specs, and drawings.
• Support delivery of BESS and balance-of-plant systems.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, grid, controls, and construction teams.
• Produce technical reports and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.

Job description

We are looking to connect with Electrical Project Engineers who have experience delivering battery energy storage, renewable energy or high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects.

This advert relates to current and upcoming opportunities with developers, EPC contractors, engineering consultancies and energy infrastructure businesses operating across Manchester and the wider North West.

The work

Depending on the employer and project portfolio, opportunities may involve supporting utility-scale battery energy storage projects from design development through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

Typical responsibilities may include:

• Reviewing electrical designs, specifications, drawings and technical documentation.
• Supporting the delivery of battery energy storage and associated balance-of-plant systems.
• Coordinating with civil, mechanical, grid, controls and construction teams.
• Reviewing single-line diagrams, cable schedules, equipment layouts and protection requirements.
• Supporting the specification and procurement of transformers, switchgear, inverters, cables and auxiliary systems.
• Managing technical queries and resolving engineering issues during construction.
• Monitoring contractors, suppliers and specialist consultants.
• Supporting factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing and commissioning activities.
• Tracking project progress, technical risks, programme requirements and design changes.
• Ensuring work is completed in accordance with applicable standards, project specifications and health and safety requirements.
• Producing technical reports and communicating progress to project stakeholders.

Your background

We are interested in speaking with engineers who have worked on one or more of the following:

• Battery energy storage systems.
• Utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.
• High-voltage substations and grid connections.
• Power generation or electrical infrastructure.
• Industrial or mission-critical electrical projects.

You are likely to have:

• A degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering.
• Experience supporting the design or delivery of electrical projects.
• Knowledge of medium-voltage or high-voltage electrical systems.
• The ability to review technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Experience working with contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• The confidence to manage several technical priorities at the same time.

Experience with the following would be particularly relevant:

• BESS inverters, transformers and containerised battery systems.
• Protection and control systems.
• SCADA and communications interfaces.
• Electrical balance-of-plant design.
• Distribution network operator requirements.
• Construction supervision or site commissioning.
• UK electrical standards and grid-compliance requirements.

Location and working arrangements

• Opportunities will be centred around Manchester and the wider North West. Some positions may offer hybrid working, while others will require regular travel to project or construction sites.
• Candidates based in Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington, Cheshire, Lancashire or surrounding areas may be well positioned for these opportunities.
