Job summary

4M Recruitment Limited is assisting a client to hire an Electrical Design Engineer on a permanent basis. This hands-on role covers LV/HV design, BESS, and electrical networks from 0.4kV to 32kV, involving liaison with DNOs and site work.

Requirements include HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years’ experience, strong AutoCAD skills, and experience with Trimble/Amtech. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Our client is currently looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer on a permanent basis.

Electrical Design Engineer

North West

We’re looking for a talented engineer to join a growing design team, working on exciting projects across power generation, electrical distribution and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

This is a hands-on design role where you’ll have the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects, collaborate with clients, suppliers and DNOs, and see your designs progress from concept through to installation.

You’ll be responsible for developing detailed electrical designs across LV and HV systems, including:

• LV/HV power generation and distribution systems
• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
• Electrical networks from 0.4kV to 32kV
• DC systems from 24VDC to 1500VDC
• Protection and discrimination schemes
• Earthing systems
• Switchboards, transformers and HV equipment
• Single Line Diagrams, cable schedules, control schematics and other electrical documentation
• Electrical drawings using AutoCAD
• Technical liaison with DNOs, clients, suppliers and internal teams
• Site visits, design development and as-built updates

We’re looking for someone with:

• HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years’ experience in an engineering or construction environment
• Strong AutoCAD experience, particularly producing electrical drawings
• Experience with Trimble/Amtech
• Good knowledge of LV/HV electrical systems
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• The ability to work independently and manage priorities
• A full UK driving licence

Experience with Revit, Navisworks, SolidWorks, PLCs, protection systems, generator controllers or industrial communications protocols would be an advantage.

You’ll be working on projects that support the development of more efficient, flexible and lower-carbon energy systems, including battery storage and power generation.
