Job summary

JLR in Ryton is seeking a Bespoke Paint Technician to join our skilled team, delivering high-quality paint finishes for era-defining vehicles. You will collaborate with expert technicians to ensure flawless panels, paint mixing and meticulous polishing to show standards.

The role requires a City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, proven experience in body/paint prep and a strong problem-solving mindset, with commitment to health and safety and 5S practices on the paint shop floor.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Automotive/Engineering with LVL 3 or equivalent.
• Proven experience in body/plastic prep, paint application and polishing.
• Strong problem-solving in paint processes.
• Willingness to learn and collaborate with others.
• Experience painting show-quality vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Full cleaning and preparation of panels, including masking before paint.
• Paint mixing and application to high standards (Gloss, Satin & Matte).
• Polishing to mirror finish and WCPA standards.
• Painting non-commissioned, one-of-a-kind vehicles.
• Work on non-standard production vehicles with unique specs.
• Adhere to Health & Safety and 5S standards in paint shop tasks.

What To Expect

• Full cleaning and preparation of panels, including masking prior to paint application
• Paint mixing and application to the highest standards, including Gloss, Satin & Matte finishes
• Polishing of bodies and plastics to mirror finish and WCPA standards
• Painting non-commissioned, one-of-one bespoke vehicles
• Working on non-standard production vehicles with unique specifications
• Full adherence to Health & Safety and 5S standards while undertaking paint shop tasks

What You’ll Need

• City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an Automotive/Engineering discipline such as Accident Repair, Body and/or Paint competencies
• Proven experience in body and plastic preparation, paint application, and polishing
• Strong problem-solving skills in technical paint application and repair processes
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to support and learn from others
• Experience in painting and preparing vehicles to show car standards
