Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 midwife to work alongside and support our band 7 bereavement midwife.

You will collaborate closely with the Band 7 Bereavement Midwife to provide care for bereaved parents and those experiencing pregnancy after loss.

The post holder will work 23 hours per week, with flexible hours across two sites. A driving licence and access to transport are required, as community care is a key part of this role.

Main duties of the job
  1. Support families bereaved or experiencing loss alongside the Band 7 bereavement midwife.
  2. Ensure bereavement care is delivered with sensitivity, working with other staff members.
  3. Case load women/birthing people needing extra support post-loss or significant bereavement.
  4. Conduct home visits for case-loaded women/birthing people as needed.
  5. Participate in PMRT, case review panels, and Child Death Review panels.
  6. Liaise with the multidisciplinary team regarding antenatal cases.
  7. Coordinate with external agencies following the death of a baby or mother.
  8. Support women/birthing people experiencing bereavement during pregnancy and postnatally.
  9. Assist in developing policies and guidelines related to bereavement care.
  10. Provide support to staff, including debriefing and signposting to services.
  11. Review and consult on bereavement cases with relevant staff.
  12. Manage practical aspects like ordering supplies and maintaining paperwork.
