Job summary

North Norfolk District Council is seeking a Benefit Officer to support residents with Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support and related discretionary awards. You will maintain records, process claims and enquiries, and collaborate with services to maximise income and provide wraparound support to vulnerable residents.

You will join a friendly team, complete BPSS checks, and benefit from a salary between £28,153 and £33,673, with flexi time, 25 days holiday and a generous pension, plus hybrid

Qualifications

• Experience in benefits assessment or a similar customer-focused role.
• Willingness to learn through a training programme.
• Detail-oriented, organised and able to work independently.
• Good communication skills with compassion for a wide range of people.

Responsibilities

• Deal with administration of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support and related Discretionary Awards.
• Maintain computerised records and handle routine claims, changes of circumstances, correspondence and customer enquiries.
• Support residents to maximise income and work with other services to provide wraparound support.
• Deliver high quality customer service and assist in overpayments recovery.
