Job summary

Furniture Production in Newport is seeking a skilled bench joiner to assemble bespoke joinery products for commercial projects. You will work from technical drawings, fabricate and assemble doors, windows, staircases, and fitted furniture in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• Previous bench joinery experience or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to read technical drawings and produce accurate components.
• Strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and produce high-quality bespoke joinery products from drawings.
• Assemble doors, windows, staircases and fitted furniture.
• Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely.
• Measure, set out and prepare materials for assembly.
• Carry out basic maintenance of woodworking machinery.
• Support general workshop activities as required.

Our workshop specialises in bespoke joinery for a wide range of commercial developments. We manufacture high-quality products including windows, staircases, reception desks, fitted bedroom furniture and other custom pieces. Our portfolio includes projects across hotels, care homes, hospitals and schools.

What you will be doing...

You will be responsible for assembling and producing high-quality bespoke joinery products, working both independently and as part of the workshop team.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Working accurately from technical drawings to manufacture bespoke joinery products.
• Assembling joinery items including doors, windows, staircases, and fitted furniture.
• Operating a range of woodworking machinery and hand tools.
• Measuring, setting out, and preparing materials for assembly.
• Carrying out basic maintenance of woodworking machinery
• Supporting general workshop activities as required.

• Previous experience in a similar bench joinery role
• A relevant qualification in wood occupations or being time-served
• Excellent attention to detail and quality standards
• Strong timekeeping and ability to meet deadlines
• A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
