Job summary

Monarch Education are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a full-time role in Fishponds, Bristol. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils aged 5–19 with complex needs, including autism and SEMH, in a specialist setting.

The role emphasizes hands-on, consistent support, working closely with teachers and therapists to create a safe and structured learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs aged 5–19.
  • Support pupils with Autism, SEMH, communication needs and complex needs.
  • Assist with personal care and daily routines where required.
  • Support behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
  • Use structured routines, visual supports and sensory strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and the wider support team.
  • Help create a safe, consistent and supportive learning environment.

SEND Teaching Assistant - Full Time
Fishponds, Bristol- BS16
Monarch Education

Monarch Education are working with a special needs school in Fishponds, Bristol to recruit a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant. This role is heavily focused on supporting pupils with complex and additional needs, and requires someone who is committed to working consistently, full time in a specialist setting.

This is not a mainstream classroom role. The school supports pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), complex learning needs, SEMH, communication needs, and physical needs. Staff are expected to provide hands-on, structured, and consistent support throughout the school day.

Important - Essential Criteria (Please Read Carefully)
  • Full-time availability (Monday to Friday)
  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, or relevant transferable experience (e.g. residential care, support work, youth work, or care settings)
  • A clear understanding of working with individuals who may have complex needs and behavioursApplications that do not meet the above requirements will not be considered.
The role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs-Between the ages of 5-19
  • Support pupils with Autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, and complex needs
  • Assist with personal care and daily routines where required
  • Support behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
  • Use structured approaches, including routines, visual supports, and sensory strategies
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team
  • Help create a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment
