Job summary

Prospero Teaching are recruiting a Behaviour Support Worker / SEN Teaching Assistant to join a PRU in Manchester from September. The role focuses on supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups, helping engagement and emotional regulation.

You will work closely with SEN professionals and staff, following behaviour plans and safeguarding procedures to support pupil welfare and development. Competitive weekly pay and ongoing training are offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, SEN, or PRU/youth settings is advantageous.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • Confidence in setting boundaries and following behaviour management plans consistently.
  • Flexibility, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Ideal candidates will have a sports, youth work and mentoring background.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on 1:1 and small group basis, helping them to engage in learning and regulate emotions.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour and sometimes high-risk behaviours, using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with pupils.

Behaviour Support Worker / SEN Teaching Assistant
Location - South Manchester (M13)
Pay - GBP500-GBP550 per week, depending on experience
Start Date - ASAP
Contract Type - Long-Term, Temp to Perm

Are you an experienced behaviour mentor, looking to secure a September role? Prospero Teaching are working with a primary, Pupil Referral Unit in Manchester to recruit Behaviour Support Workers and Teaching Assistants to join their supportive team from September.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
  • Support pupils on 1:1 and small group basis, helping them to engage in learning and regulate emotions
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour and sometimes high-risk behaviours, using positive behaviour strategies
  • Build strong, professional relationships with pupils
  • Work closely with other staff members, SEN professionals and external agencies to support development
Requirements:

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
