Job summary

Charnwood College is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to join our secondary school and help students overcome barriers to learning, supporting their behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider team to build positive relationships and implement individual strategies.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Worker to join our secondary school and play a key role in supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Working closely with students, teaching staff, pastoral colleagues and the wider school team, you will provide targeted support to students who may experience challenges with behaviour, emotional regulation, engagement or social interaction. You will build positive, trusting relationships with students and help them develop the skills, confidence and strategies they need to make positive choices and succeed in school.

The successful candidate will have a calm, consistent and nurturing approach, with the ability to establish clear boundaries while maintaining positive relationships. You will support the implementation of individual behaviour and pastoral strategies, respond appropriately to challenging situations, and help create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment for all students.

The role may include providing one-to-one or small-group support, supporting students during lessons and unstructured times, helping students to regulate and re-engage with learning, and working alongside colleagues to monitor progress and identify appropriate interventions.

This is a permanent, term time only post, working 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

Salary: NJC12 £29,542 FTE (actual salary £25,949 per annum, pro rata) - proposed 2026/27 rates
