Job summary

Sir Thomas Fremantle School is looking to recruit two Behaviour Support Mentors to join our pastoral team and help our students achieve their very best.

This role involves 1:1 support and assisting the Behaviour Hub with reflections, pre-planned sanctions and class removals, within a supportive pastoral environment that aims to help students belong, achieve and not be defined by their behaviour.

• Empathy — you will have a heart for young people and use your skills to understand the child behind the behaviour.
• Resilience — you will develop both your own and students’ resilience.
• Support — there is a team to support you and help you develop the provision under our Assistant Headteacher.

We know that, for some young people, managing behaviour and the demands of school life can be challenging. We are looking for skilled, compassionate professionals who can see beyond the behaviour, build positive relationships and help students develop the strategies they need to be the very best they can be.

This is a role where you can make a real difference - helping young people feel that they belong, that they can achieve and that their behaviour does not have to define them.

It requires:

We have different areas for students depending on their needs:

• Butterfly Room - academic interventions and support for students with special educational needs.
• Phoenix Suite - SEMH support for students struggling with their resilience and emotional wellbeing.
• The Hub - a space for students to reflect on their behaviour through pre-planned sanctions, as well as a responsive space for students removed from classes.

You will be supported by the pastoral team, with opportunities for you to grow and develop your practice.
