Job Title: Behaviour Support Mentor (Ideal for ex-Prison Officers)
Location: Telford
Salary: £90–£95 per day (PAYE)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
If you’ve worked in a challenging environment like a prison, you’ve already got the grit, empathy, and calm-under-pressure mindset it takes to thrive in this role.
We’re looking for a confident, compassionate individual to join a specialist SEMH school in Telford. You’ll be supporting pupils who have faced exclusion, trauma, or barriers to mainstream learning—and helping them take positive steps forward.
Providing one-to-one behaviour mentoring and emotional regulation support
Spotting when a student’s struggling and stepping in with empathy—not judgment
Helping deliver personalised support plans with a trauma-informed approach
Working side-by-side with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to support holistic progress
Creating a safe, stable environment where every pupil can breathe, trust, and learn
Former Prison Officers, Youth Workers, or anyone with experience in high-pressure environments
Strong de-escalation skills and a resilient, calm approach
An understanding that behaviour is communication—especially in SEMH settings
A team player with patience, perspective, and a huge heart for helping young people thrive
