A specialist school in Skelmersdale is seeking individuals with experience supporting students in their learning. If you are passionate about supporting young people, especially students requiring further development in their learning, this could be the role for you. The school caters to primary-aged children with SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health needs), as well as other needs such as autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties. The role involves managing challenging behaviour, so previous experience with de-escalation techniques is required. The school is smaller than average, with around 50 pupils and small class sizes (6-12 pupils).
As a Teaching Assistant specialising in SEMH, you should be reliable, resilient, and supportive. Experience with behaviour management and de-escalation techniques is necessary; training in techniques like Team Teach is desirable but not essential. The role may involve working 1-1 with pupils based on the relationships you develop. It is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, starting in September 2024, with potential for a permanent role for the right candidate.
