Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to work in schools across the Middlesbrough area. You will support students with behavioural needs 1:1 and in small groups, helping them engage with learning and develop social and emotional skills.

You will implement behaviour strategies, build trusting relationships, and assist teachers in creating safe, inclusive classrooms. Experience with children and a willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build trust and rapport with students
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to work within schools in the Middlesbrough area. This role involves supporting students who may display challenging behaviour, helping them to engage positively with their education and develop essential social and emotional skills.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or similar)
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build trust and rapport with students
• A proactive and flexible attitude
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable

• Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or additional needs
• Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or childcare

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
