Job summary

TimePlan Education Group is recruiting for a Behaviour Support Assistant at a specialist SEN school in East Cheshire. You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with an EHCP, helping with behaviour management and learning, alongside teachers and therapists.

The role covers students aged 11–16 with complex needs (ASC, PMLD, communication and sensory needs). A resilient, patient team player with excellent communication is essential, with opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications

• Has prior experience supporting challenging behaviour.
• Experience within SEN or specialist education.
• Team-oriented with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Team Teach or Oliver McGowan training is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 behaviour and SEN support.
• Support a student displaying challenging behaviour.
• Follow EHCP-linked strategies.
• Promote emotional regulation, communication and independence.
• Build a trusting relationship with the student and work with the SEN team.

Are you an experienced Behaviour Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting young people who may display challenging behaviour within the classroom?

A specialist SEN school in East Cheshire, supporting students aged 11-16 with complex needs including ASC, PMLD, communication and sensory needs and associated neurological conditions, are looking to add to their thriving support team.

If you are a resilient and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant who can provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with an EHCP throughout their school day, this opportunity is for you!

What you'll be doing:

• Provide consistent 1:1 behaviour and SEN support
• Support a student who displays challenging behaviour
• Follow and implement strategies linked to their EHCP
• Promote emotional regulation, communication and independence
• Build a trusting, positive relationship with the student
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and the wider SEN team
• Maintain a calm, structured and safe learning environment

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience supporting challenging behaviour - essential
• Is resilient, patient, consistent and emotionally robust
• Has experience within SEN, specialist education or care
• Works exceptionally well as part of a team
• Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Team Teach or Oliver McGowan training is highly desirable
